Applications for uOttawa WISE execs 2021-2022 are now open!

Deadline for application is March 18, 2021 @ 11:59PM

You MUST be a registered undergraduate uOttawa student to apply

Your candidacy will be posted on the elections tab after the candidacy deadline
Voting will be between March 22 8AM till March 23 5PM with a voting link on our website, social media, and an email will be sent to our members!

Voting is available to all students in any faculty at uOttawa

Winners will be announced on March 24 on our website and social media!

Please read the constitution here for information on the executive positions before deciding to apply

You may begin advertising as soon as you submit your application!

Miriam Micael, a Project Management Engineer from the CSA will speak to students about her career path and her experiences as a woman in aerospace.

As a project management engineer at the Canadian Space Agency, she is currently working on the WildFireSat mission, which aims to support wildfire management in Canada. This mission will also provide Canadians with information on smoke and air quality. Additionally, she is supporting the RADARSAT Constellation Mission, Canada’s next-generation synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite mission.

🚀Volunteer Opportunity – WISE and the Canadian Space Agency🚀

WISE wishes to host the Canadian Space Agency to talk to students about their career paths and their experiences as female astronauts/women in aerospace.

We are aiming for this event to take place in late January to early February. We wish to open this event and to collaborate with internal uOttawa clubs and associations as well as external WISE associations from different Canadian universities in order to make this happen.

We are looking for 4-5 volunteers to assist the WISE executive team with contacting a list of uOttawa clubs and associations and the different Canadian WISE associations. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Deadline: November 15, 2020 at 11PM

🌸FIRST YEAR REP APPLICATIONS🌸

A first year representative position is important for the WISE team, since they are the first communication with the first year students in both science and engineering.

We have 2 first year rep positions, one in science and one in engineering. Positions are open to all genders! Duties of first year reps include, event promotion (social media, word of mouth, classroom presentations, etc), collaborating with the VP Outreach for WISE’s annual high school outreach program, and attending meetings to provide input and suggestions for future events and current decisions within WISE.

WISE has collaborated with UOSU this year to bring to you the “Get wise with WISE” 101 week event !!

Get wise with WISE gives first years a chance to hear upper year students in science and engineering talk about their experiences and what they wish they had known from the beginning! Hear about how they overcame obstacles that come with university life, what it means to be a woman in STEM, and advice they wish they had heard in their 1st year.
The panel will be open to questions after the talk.
